Hola! I’m a bilingual Latinx psychotherapist.

I am passionate about providing people with a safe space to find and use their voice.

I strongly believe that we are all a product of our environment, which is why understanding each person’s unique journey requires curiosity, compassion, and cultural humility. These are qualities I bring to the therapy room.

The work I do is largely guided by my own life experiences as an immigrant woman of color who was raised in South Central LA. My background helps me understand the complex issues that often affect people of color — including the extent to which family violence, housing instability, lack of resources, discrimination, immigration status and intergenerational trauma — and how they can prevent you from accomplishing your goals and living the best life you possibly can.

I take a client-centered approach that is trauma-informed with a social justice lens. It focuses on what has happened to you, your lineage, and community. Together, we will get to the root of the internal and external barriers affecting the quality of your life. I become part of your support system and am here to remind you of your strengths and power.

I value and honor the opportunity to walk beside you during some of the most vulnerable moments in your life. I provide a compassionate and direct approach to therapy with a little humor on the side. I ask questions with curiosity and humility, and will gently challenge you while you reconnect with your true self, increase self-awareness, heal emotional wounds and gain emotional clarity to improve the quality of your life.

Outside the therapy room, you can find me at the dog park with my two furry kids, gardening, buying more plants to fit in my home (which already has a lot of plants), spending quality time with my family and drinking way too many cups of coffee. (Don’t tell my acupuncturist!)

Our Values

The heart of this practice is to serve people of color. We understand the unique circumstances you face, want to help you find your true voice, and provide a space to process experiences with someone who looks and talks like you. You can come to therapy knowing that you will not be judged, and you won’t have the burden of explaining how racism, microaggressions, or a lack of community resources have affected your life and community.

We seek to empower everyone who comes to our practice with the knowledge and truth that you are enough, and that every part of who you are deserves to be seen.

Perez Family Therapy is an extension of my heart and the things I love most — my family and culture. The name of this practice is a way to honor my hard-working immigrant family, and all that they have sacrificed for me. It honors our past and serves as a space to create new beginnings — a journey so many people of color embark on when starting therapy.

This practice is guided by three core values:

Integrity

We have strong ethical and moral principles at all times. We treat every individual with respect and honor your individual experiences.

humility

We lead with cultural humility and curiosity. We value and encourage honest feedback, we respect each individual we work with by always reminding you that no one — even your therapist — knows you better than yourself. We invite feedback from our clients and constantly seek to improve in different areas to provide the best mental health services.

Compassion

As a trauma-informed and culturally-sensitive practice, we focus on truly caring and understanding the different experiences and challenges that our clients deal with on a daily basis.
